INTERESTING SIGNS, SYMBOLS & SCRIBBLES I’VE ENCOUNTERED.  #7 OF WHO KNOWS HOW MANY

This sign at the Dalebrook Tidal Pool made me really angry.

I don’t mind the “no fishing” part.  I need fishing “like a fish needs a bicycle.”

In fact, I’ve been fishing twice in my life, both times with my friend, Peter Adrian, a super experienced fisherman (you know…the deranged type who makes his own fishing flies).

I remember the first time he took me fishing at a dam in the Magaliesberg.  I clumsily copied his cast and caught a fish almost immediately.  It was early in the morning.  I took a perverse pleasure in the fact that he spent the rest of the day feverishly casting, until he caught his first fish in the late afternoon.

As I reflect on this, more than 30 years later, the pleasure hasn’t diminished (Ah…cosmic irony…the gift that keeps on giving).

The part that makes me angry is the “no extracting activities”.

Even if it is a public space, no one but no one is going to tell me when and where to pick my nose.
